One night in the fall of 1993, Harrod Blank had a dream in which he covered his car with cameras and then drove around and took pictures of people on the streets. The public, unaware that the cameras worked, reacted naturally. At the end of the dream, Harrod looked at pictures taken with the van of faces frozen in the moment of awe, pictures so powerful that the next morning he decided to attempt to build such a vehicle in reality.
Behold the Camera Van:
Of course, if you're driving the Camera Van, you don't dare leave the house without the Flash Suit, a full-body outfit requiring "two 6-volt battery packs to keep its 100+ actively flashing bulbs flashing [constantly, including an] excess of 2,000 antique flash cubes and magicubes." And, duh, the hat flashes, too. Super Duh.
Tip: if you'll be anywhere near Douglas, Arizona on December 12, 2009, mark your calendars. The Camera Van's in town!
