October 1st, 2009 marked the 60th anniversary of the People's Republic of China, an occasion which the country celebrated with a massive parade in Tienanmen Square. 60 years earlier the PRC was founded in a ceremony held in the same location.

This portion of the parade, a two mile procession of soldiers and military vehicles, is intended to illustrate China's military strength. Equally illustrative of this is the soldier on the left side of the street who stands still and at attention for pretty much the entire thing. What focus! That man is itch-less.
