In a new weekly feature, we investigate proud packrats who put their "unique" collections on display to the captive web audience. From Beanie Babies to stamps, Internet, show us your junk!
Look, we here at Urlesque lived through the '90s. We owned our *NSync CDs and Hammer pants. And, yes, we owned Beanie Babies. We even owned multiple Beanie Babies, and maybe a plastic case for our dark blue version of "Peanut" the elephant that was supposed to be worth something someday -- our little nest egg that would have come in handy during the recession if, like all fads, Beanie Babies hadn't faded into the obscurity of the back of our closets with our slap bracelets and Pogs.
But thanks to YouTube we're able to experience people's Beanie collections, complete with soundtracks and cross-fades. How did we ever live without these videos? Our video collection of Beanie Baby collections below:
TY Collection Protected by Curatins, by lukevail
Sometimes all you need is silence and the dramatic opening of curtains to adequately display your impressive Beanie Baby collection. After the first curtain, there is sufficient "Holy Heck That's A Lot of Beanie Babies!" which leaves you simply at a loss for words when curtain two gets pulled back.
Beanie Babies, by angelasga
Most Beanie collections are only as strong as the soundtrack that accompanies them. This collection itself is not actually impressive (some of these aren't even Beanie Babies!) but the creepily quiet audio of 'Billie Jean' playing along in the background as the videographer gives you extreme closeups of choice dolls will give you chills.
Martin Fried's Beanie Baby Collection, by martindfried
This is the first video we encountered with editing and graphics, as well as an upbeat soundtrack. If it was 1996 and we could think of a practical reason to spend money on hundreds of stuffed toys we would be contacting the poster right away! (Okay, we'll admit the Dragon beanie is totally tempting, even in 2009.) Ed note: I own that one.

All you really need to know about this video is the soundtrack is 'Africa' by Toto. While we're big fans of the original video for Africa, this definitely gives it a run for its money, with all the smooth fades. And the date-stamp on the pictures informs that they were all taken August 31st of this year. Think about that for a while.

And winning the award for Most Dramatic Presentation of a Beanie Baby Collection goes to shawnmichaelsrulez89. Thanks to the soundtrack we're not sure if we're watching someone show off their stuffed animals or about to see a very special episode of Law & Order: SVU.

Please, urlbots, go to martindfried.com. I cannot find the beanie babies. But I can see his terrifying artwork, his photographs of medical rashes (he's a doctor!), and his toy trains. Oh, and a photo tribute to his late father.
