Nothing has made us happier than when favorite tweeter (author, and writer for The New Yorker) Susan Orlean started obsessing over her... chickens. Not only does she "get" Twitter -- as "not getting it" can make other celeb twitters briefly amusing, but we always end up unfollowing -- but she also LOVES CHICKENS. Stars are just like us, you guys! We love chickens!
By the way, it has been suggested that I might get people to pay if I occasionally posted nude chicken photos. Agree?
At her house in New York's Hudson Valley, Orlean keeps "backyard chickens" -- a bunch of strangely adorable birds, as chronicled on Orlean's Twitter (and in this week's New Yorker). Orlean has posted plenty of TwitPics and thoughts about the additions to her family; she seems just as surprised as you might be to discover the joy of keeping this unlikely pet.
Would I call chickens eating eggs cannibalism? It's weird, but they don't then go & eat their own, say, feet. It starts & ends with eggs.
Make sure to follow Susan Orlean for more nuggets of "chick lit", hilarious remarks, and adorable pictures. Check out the New Yorker below to learn more about the chickens. Let's also cross our fingers for her chickens to have little chicklets!
