It's official: Windows 7 is going to be the most adorable operating system of all time. Little girls? Rabbits in hats? Kitties surrounded by marshmallows? Apparently, Microsoft knows its demographic because if an adorable puppy appeared instead of an apple upon startup, I'd be sold. (Kidding, I love you, Apple. Never leave me.)

um... I think the point Microsoft was trying to make is that the software is easy to use.

OMG, first Vista, and now this? What depths of depravity does Windows plan to sink to? I hope this isn't the professional edition.

And if not! who will do the refunding. Everyone who owns Vista should've gotten a free complete installation disc. I bought Vista when it came out and now they are offering free upgrades to recent pc buyers with Vista. C'mon microsoft, show me the refund!

Well, Vista is officially the Windows 98/ME of our time. Still, until Apple learns to evolve past the one button mouse, you'll never see me touch one of their overpriced over hyped machines.

Microsoft said the same things about VISTA and it sucks !

After the Vista nightmare, this is the best Microsoft can do. Come on, Microsoft, just give us a stable and efficient OS that doesn't take forever to load, doesn't require the user to learn the OS from scratch again, and doesn't crash applications and display the "Send Error Message" pop up replacement for the blue screen of death.

Why do you have to come out with a completely new operating system every so many years? Is it possible to fix the one that worked with the least trouble LIKE XP . WHAT HAPPENED TO THE SERIES TYPE OF FIXES LIKE ,YOU KNOW WINDOWS 1.0 WINDOWS 1.1 .I guess then there wouldn't be all the money coming in from people thinking the next one will be better,YOU BETCHA IT WILL.

Must be a slow news day if this is the best you can come up with for a filler. I agree with CrazyDuck, I think it is meant to show how easy it is to use and nothing more.

They should give us something PC and User friendly. Like MAC and LINUX...

The OS is great again? Does that mean the OS they forced on me when I bought my computer last summer is crap? Oh wait....yes it does. I think every Vista victim should get Windows 7 for free as an apology.

I've been in both the alpha and beta testing of Windows 7. Every PC my company uses is XP, we refused to go with vista for a multitude of reasons including compatability and plain and simply, it sucked.
I have however used Windows 7 with all are currnt hardware and software (many custom applications) and with the exception of a couple of driver issues, it's worked as described. I personally found that shocking with a MS OS.
Speedwise it's faster than even a stripped down version of XP and allows resource control flexibility to let even our memory and processor hungry apps to run well.
So when you see it hit the stores on preloaded PC's and laptops, play with it and come to your own conclusions.
Just dont plan on the warm fuzzy foo foo garbage if you're looking at it from a business perspective.

I've Yet to see a decent copy of Linux that the Novice user could use efficiently. For everyne who complains about the changes made.... those seem t be the same ones complaining about stability/security ad naseum... Vista was a Hog but was alot more secure. Win 7 No where near as bad I also listened to how Bad/bugged the new Mac OS's are after release....With limited hardware and software they shoudnt have that many issues..

I already have Windows 7. Much better than Vista. Vista users, run and get this software

I have had it with MS after the Vista and WGA/OGA fiasco, I will be going to Mac for the wife and Ubunutu Linux for myself, yes Ubunutu is a viable Linux for the novice. It is very quick, no more paying to upgrade for MS mistakes, free Office suite, no more money into MS coffers that they do not need or deserve, what more could you ask for.

I have windows vista ultimate..love it!!!! Never had a problem with it.

It was vista and other issues that caused me to try a MacBook two years ago ... after the wife latched on to it I went out a bought a MacBook Pro two months ago and ... I just installed Snow leopard on both of them ... it loads in 20 seconds! Once you go Mac you will never go back! You can keep your Windows 7, and 8 ,and 9 ...

I gave up quickly on Vista, I began hating using my computer. I bought a Mac and never looked back. I keep my old XP for the few things that aren't mac compatible but would be skeptical of anything Microsoft does. The best part of Mac is when I have a problem, I get to talk live to an American, who is intelligent, well spoken and solves problems quickly. I believe we need to buy and deal with Americans.

"Still, until Apple learns to evolve past the one button mouse, you'll never see me touch one of their overpriced over hyped machines."
...Huh?? Umm.. Apple migrated to a multi-button mouse several years ago. My standard Mighty Mouse has 5 buttons and a scroll. It does still look like the old mice, but it functions just like your precious PC mouse. Personally I have half the buttons turned off, I just don't use them all. Time for you to head to the Apple store...
