In 2008, William and Laetitia, a couple from France embarked on a long journey -- to travel 9,000 miles by foot from Miami, Florida in North America, through Central and South Americas, to the southernmost city in the world, Ushuaia, Tierra del Fuego in Argentina with only 1 euro each per day. They have reported on their travels via a website and podcast, allowing the world to follow them along the way.
Two months into their trip, the couple was joined by a patient, sweet cat who has since accompanied them on the road.
In the latest update from September 1, we learn that Laetitia has returned to France, leaving William and his faithful feline companion, Kitty, to finish the trek on their own. See their progress and follow the remainder of their journey via their site, Turn of the World. Tip: To read about their adventures in English, Google Translate is available on their site.- link:// Turn of the World

I hope William and Kitty make it to Ushuia, and are able to return to France together. Brings back my hiking/trekking days. What a great story!

Cats will stay with whom they LOVE most, and they are one animal you just can't force them to go or stay if they don't want to, that's why I love cats so much, for their independance, but they will give you as much pleasure as a dog, they will pay you back with all their love just as a sweet dog does.

Good Luck to you and kitty!! There is another couple who I saw travelling through Malvern, PA then later that day I saw them on Rt 30 in Exton, PA backpacking with an orange kitty. The cat was on a leash in malvern then on top of the guys backpack in Exton. i wanted to stop and talk to them but the traffic was too bad. Would love to know if anyone has heard about them. This was over a month ago. Thanks.

There shouldn't be a quarantine problem in most places in South America. Because they are connected to North America (obviously) they all have the same diseases from wild animals freely crossing the borders. It's places that are islands (like Great Britain) that don't have rabies, etc, where they have stricter quarantine laws.

What a great story. Why did the girl go back to France? Didn't she get along with the kitty. Hope they have a great time on this journey.

How precious.
I've always felt that you can tell a lot about people by how they treat animals.
They are two very special people and a very special cat. Vayan con Dios.

The kitty was homeless when it was found. They didn't have to take it along....stop worrying about the kitty..she's fine. She wouldn't have adopted them and stayed with them if she didn't want to. Everyone who knows cats knows they know how to get what they want. She knew she what she was doing and how to get someone to feed her. Besides, if you leave animals alone, they take care of themselves until people domesticate them and they forget how to hunt.

This was the second best video I have seen. I'm not a cat person (I have a dog) but I sure hope he keeps the kitty and not throw it away. The first online video was the lion being reunited in Africa with the two men who raised him in London years earlier!
