In 2008, William and Laetitia, a couple from France embarked on a long journey -- to travel 9,000 miles by foot from Miami, Florida in North America, through Central and South Americas, to the southernmost city in the world, Ushuaia, Tierra del Fuego in Argentina with only 1 euro each per day. They have reported on their travels via a website and podcast, allowing the world to follow them along the way.
Two months into their trip, the couple was joined by a patient, sweet cat who has since accompanied them on the road.
In the latest update from September 1, we learn that Laetitia has returned to France, leaving William and his faithful feline companion, Kitty, to finish the trek on their own. See their progress and follow the remainder of their journey via their site, Turn of the World. Tip: To read about their adventures in English, Google Translate is available on their site.- link:// Turn of the World

That is one special kitty. Hopefully, he doesn't subject her to dangerous elements, I would hate to see her get lost.
If he decides, he doesn't want her after the trip, which I doubt, I would be happy to take her. You don't find cats like that often. She's a gem.

Kitty looks just like my 19 year old Smokey. Hope they have Kitty as long. I wondered to about crossing borders, and bringing Kitty back to France. Would hate to see anything happen to her.

Sometimes things happen for a reason. These people were in the right place at the right time for Kitty, and she was there for them.
I do hope he's able to take Kitty home to France when it's time to go. Too bad she had to return home early.
Domenique.. if you can't or don't take her, let me know because I will! :)
I wish them all wonderful health and many happy journeys together.

I love this story. It is really sweet. I hope they are able to keep the kitty. They seem like a real amily. It's stories like these that give your life color, and meaning. I read some of the comments and a couple were kind of mean. I feel sorry for those people. Either they are teenagers, or they have not experienced much of life yet. Probably the kind of people who have not traveled, or had any real adventures in their lives. I just retired from the military, and I was having coffee with my friends this morning, and we all thought the story was great. So to the people who thought the story sucked... $#@% you.

Speaking of not being the brightest. Research before you speak/type. French's (mustard as well as other items) is an American manufacturer of prepared mustard condiment. All French's products are manufactured in the United States.

What a great story and great to have the company of unpretentious animal such as Kitty. I hope when they (he) is finished with his adventure he takes Kitty home. She seems to well adjusted and looks like she is enjoying the trek on backpack, what a sweet and pure story.
On another note, for those people who have nothing but idiotic and stupid comments, you don't know the wonderful experience this couple is having to just backpack and see some of the Wonders of the World. Get a life, or perhaps get a backpack and take a short trek into nature, you'll see how spiritual and uplifting nature is.
God speed to William, Laetitia and Kitty!

What a great story! Only a kitty could pull it off....a cat won't stay where it doesn't want to be, it just won't! I hope it has a long and adventerous life; my Gracie lived to be 13, Lulu 17 and Daisy 19. When she died, I was without a kitty for the first time in 35 years...now I have Paddy Paws, given to me by my granddaughters for Christmas...There is no animal on earth that equeals a cat, and the one in this story meows in French as well....go Kitty..

Splendid story about adventure and worthwhile experience. The cat will survive; it can enter France without too many control problems, (unless the law has changed). I took an African dog into France when I lived there.

why didnt his girlfriend take the cat back with her? my concerns are for the cat not how cute the story is.. i hope that the welfare of the cat is being met and they take her back to france instead of allowing her to get loose in some miserable place.

i don't believe anyone commented on the cultural benefits of trekking. most are concerned about the welfare of the cat and what will happen to the cat.
