On Friday, the seemingly ubiquitous T-Pain brought his beloved auto-tune to the masses by releasing I Am T-Pain, an iPhone app that allows average joes like me and you to have access to a recording studio's dirty little secret -- the technology to correct (or have fun with) pitch.
Unsurprisingly, folks are testing out the app and taking to YouTube to show off their creations. While sifting through the videos we had a realization -- forget everything we said before, auto-tune is here to stay. In fact, we now get it and see the appeal -- auto-tune makes anyone sound like a badass. Here are a few prime examples:
- This birdie, a Budgie named Bebis, knows how to floooooow.
- In a brief 1:37, this dad turns from a... well, a dad... into a club-hopping, rapping fool.
- Just by hearing this kid singin' about buyin' me a drank, I would've never guessed he isn't old enough to... AT ALL. Moving on...
- While we can't really SEE the adorable 4-year-old behind this jam, we'd surely buy a ticket to his concert.
- And finally, just for fun, our friend Ellie from Know Your Meme gives the app a whirl. (But she always sounds like a badass, right?)
- Bonus! Jason Kottke's toddler singing the auto-tuned ABCs makes learning sound suh-weeeet!
