Yes, we're obviously having fun with The Day Without Cats, but all of us at Urlesque are cat-lovers at heart and think that our feline friends need some rest from the interwebz. They could also use your help! Here are a few of our favorite organizations that lend a helping paw to the pussies in need.

  • Kind of a no-brainer, but PetFinder.org is not only a great place to find a shelter animal, including cats, it's also as addictive as crack. Cute animal after cute animal, all in need of homes... in your neighborhood. My current fave is Tigger from Animal Life Savers in New Jersey. In true PetFinder form, they throw in an adorable description: "If Walt Disney could have brought the lovable character Tigger to life, this would be the cat." Ahhhhh. [head tilt]



  • Big Cat Rescue reminds you that cats come in all sizes, and some will eat you if you aren't careful. That's why a few end up being rescued because some dumb-ass thinks he can keep a 500-lb mega-cat in his studio apartment. We especially love the site's freaky talking robot voice describing ligers.   • These days it's OKAY to call yourself a cat lady (at least in the Urlesque HQ) and the Crazy Cat Ladies Society took it upon themselves to take ownership of the moniker. They are ladies, they love cats and they are absolutely, positively against HOARDING. They also sell these hot-as-sh*t t-shirts, of which we are buying one hundred. Support cat ladies!


  • So the Morris Foundation's Happy Healthy Cat Campaign tells us that although cats are the #1 pet in American households, they receive less healthcare than dogs. We love our puppehs but that's not right! So they are aiming to arrange an "unprecedented global effort to eliminate suffering and premature death in cats." Send them dollars!

Now if you are so inclined, get out there and give a needy cat a place to rest his little paws -- and then make a viral video that we can post after 9/9. Cheers!
