BREAKING NEWS: According to MSN UK Tech & Gadgets, noob (or n00b, if you're l33t) could be the one millionth word in the English language. No joke, the Global Language Monitor is counting down until the million word is created -- and, at the time of this publication -- there's 397 words until the millionth. While it could be any word's glory to be crowned as the millionth, The Daily Telegraph, The Sun AND The Independent have come together to guess that the winning word will be noob.

Either way, the countdown's on and the millionth is estimated to hit exactly on June 10th at 10:22 am, specifically.

Officially, a noob (or n00b) is shortened from "newbie" and is:
a slang term for a newcomer to online gaming or an Internet activity. It can also be used for any other activity in whose context a somewhat clueless newcomer could exist. It can have derogatory connotations, but is also often used for descriptive purposes only, without a value judgment.
Is the crowning of noob as an official word (let alone the prized millionth word) some seriously epic pwnage? I'd like to think so.
