Pitched one octave below bass, contrabass and subcontrabass instruments are about as low as most instruments go. Aside from those massive pipe organs, they're also about as big as most instruments get. We can't say we find their baby-foghorn-tones all that pleasing to our ears, but we're more than a little amused by them anyway.

These are very fascinating instruments which, I believe, should be used in major Symphony and Philharmonic orchestras around the world. Their low notes should enhance the 'low range' of those orchestras and give them a fuller and wider 'presence'. I would especially love to see more subcontrabass and hypercontrabass (8-16Hz range)tubas included with those orchestras.
