Did you know that The Webby Awards winners were officially announced this morning? Call me crazy (or just a journalist who didn't do her research) but some of the winners were super surprising -- as in they really showed the webbiness of the Webbys! Don't get me wrong, I have total faith in the Webbys, especially the People's Choice category, but did you know that the Shiba Inu Puppy Cam took home an award for Viral Video? And Boston.com's The Big Picture also received accolades? Totally awesome.

Also, even if you aren't particularly webby, you might recognize some of the honorees receiving awards. Late Night host Jimmy Fallon took home Webby Person of the Year -- for his engagement with online STUFF and (we think) extremely active Twitter. Webby Artist of the Year went to Nine Inch Nails' Trent Reznor, who released his band's recent album exclusively online. And even @Urlesque's favorite obsession, THE TWITTER, got awarded the Webby Breakout of the Year.

Next year maybe yours truly could get a Webby nod (yes?), but until then, we'll celebrate this year's Webby winners and salute them for the fine work they do online everyday... with a well-crafted Blingee. CONGRATS!
