For years, message boards and social bookmarking sites alike have brought people together for the shared purpose of micro-arguing, insulting one another, and discussing their favorite websites. Not all internet threads end in flame wars, though, and a few even harness that same power that allows you to call a complete stranger a douche for good.

Take this thread from Reddit, for example. In a matter of hours, a few intrepid Reddit users were able to uncover information that this guy hadn't found in 21 years of searching. They found his Mom, he called her, and she liked him so much that she threw in a half-brother free of charge.
