When a freshman at Ball State University named Brian Collins offered to sub in as the sportscaster on his college TV newscast, he had no idea he would suffer through one of the most cringe-worthy four minutes of tape ever recorded. A beginner flying without a teleprompter, Collins stutters through the first section of the highlights before getting completely flustered and giving way to minute-long stretches of silence. He finally pulls it together long enough to inadvertently coin a catch-phrase that would become an internet legend synonymous with sportscasting FAIL. The phrase "boom goes the dynamite" would go on to grace The Oscars, SportsCenter, and John Stewart's interview with Jim Cramer. Collins also earned an appearance on Late Night with Dave Letterman. The story of web shame does have a happy ending, however: Collins has vanquished his demons and now works as a television reporter for KXXV in Waco, Texas.
