Dallas Mavericks' owner Mark Cuban was fined $25,000 by the NBA yesterday for criticizing the officiating of Friday night's Mavs vs. Nuggets game. Paying the league for the privilege of speaking his mind is nothing new for Cuban, the eccentric billionaire who's been fined over a million and a half dollars since he bought the team in 2000. But this time was different. This happened... on Twitter. Here's a look at how it all went down.

  • Cuban lobbed the offending Tweets from the sidelines of the Mavs/Nuggets game Friday night:

  • Then Sunday, he found out he'd be paying $25k to the league office.

  • Milwaukee Bucks forward Charlie Vilanueva, himself an outlaw Twitterer, lent Cuban some support.

  • Cuban's brother Brian, an attorney, chimed in with his two cents -- this is not a 1st amendment issue.

  • Cuban joked Sunday that somebody had finally figured out how to make money on Twitter.
