Intrepid viral video viewers, watch out. We have a public duty to warn you about strange things going on with the internet.

If you get an email or IM saying something along the lines of "WATCH THIS" or "OMG SO FUNNY," beware!!!!! A new video featuring Mr. Numa Numa himself, aka Gary Brolsma, is buzzing around the internet PARADING as a normal Numa dance sesh. It's got the Numa moves, camera placement and accompanying techno song, but there's something weird going on in the background. What IS that thing? Look closely...



That's right, it's Geico's gecko! A dancing gecko: spotted, in the background, dancing along with Brolsma. At the end there's not even an official call to action: no website, no phone number, no specifics. Just "a bit of entertainment courtesy of GEICO," says VP of Marketing, Ted Ward.

Adrants is amused, but I am not. Aside from a few winners, most viral videos with hidden marketing embedded turn out to look... like viral videos with hidden marketing embedded. I certainly hope Brolsma is seeing a little more than free auto insurance for this gig.
