Let's go back to a time when the web was simpler. When MIDI files played automatically, JAVA snowflakes magically fell, and every site had a lovely guestbook for visitors to sign. While on the surface, it may seem as though the good ol' days of the web are long gone -- now everyone's all uptight about frames and Helvetica -- but if you search hard enough, the gems of the internet are still out there, just waiting for you to rack up their counters.

A good way to start your search? Check out Veronica Belmont's newest Tumblr-driven collection site, The Vintage Web, aimed at collecting the "dinosaurs of the Internet age" who were "left treading water while the river of change passes them by." Gorgeous.
