Give it up for the stepson of the guitar, the lovely lil' instrument that makes its player look so adorable (or just gigantic). Truthfully, before YouTube, I was completely unaware the ukulele could be so well adapted to any genre of music aside from Hawaiian tourism ditties. But, not to your surprise, there is a wealth of unbelievable ukulele music on the web -- from R&B to Amy Winehouse.
I totally doctored the image to the left, because when you search for ukulele on YouTube, that's totally not what you find. Below, check out some of the most unique uke players on the Internet!
- One of the more well-known uke artists on the web is Julia Nunes, doing a "one-man-band" cover of 'L-O-V-E.'
- Danielle does TLC's 'Waterfalls' (complete with rap interlude!)
- An adorable couple take on Nelly & Kelly Rowland's 'Dilemma' -- with split screens!
- Shawn Megofna's cover of 'Hey There Delilah.'
- I don't think that this is a cover, but 'Charley in the Bathtub' is adorable.
- Everyone's gotta cover Britney's 'Toxic,' and Molly (or sweetafton23) proves that it's more than just a catchy tune.
- Amy Winehouse's 'Rehab' with an "island flair" by Audrey Phoenix.
- Via a tip from the Ukulele Underground, we discovered Max the Ukulele Punk Rocker! Here, he KILLS The Pixies' 'Debaser' -- in a parked car!
- Last but not least, it may not have originated on YouTube, but Kermit is an inspiration to uke fans everywhere. Miss Piggy also has a fantastic voice!
