The hardest thing about finding videos of Non-Americans attempting American accents is wading through all the Americans who do a fake British accent at the beginning before moving into a flawless American. I'm pretty sure all of these are legit, but I I have my doubts about the first one.
- Other than Ameriker, this girl sounds great
- I think this guy is the best of the bunch. He starts his American at 1:15.
- Another very good one. He just needs to work on his R's. Also says the word f**k a lot, so beware of his NSFW language.
- "Like oh my god, we're totally from California!"
- I had this one in my notes as beefcake.
- These two Harry Potter fans are better than they think!
- Another one of the best. He starts his American around 1:05.
- Terrible. Just terrible.
- He might be the better speaker, but she's got the better accent.
- And finally, another good attempt. She slips in and out, but with practice I think she has the potential to be one of the best.

Too many attempts at a "California" accent. I'd like to hear more attempts at American regional accents (e.g., accents from Boston, New York, Texas, Georgia, Chicago, etc.)

This is interesting. I am studying to work with speech impediments (not that accents are impediments) and I am usually very conscious of how we pronounce and articulate words. English isn't my first language, but I got rid of my accent pretty much like these folks: observing, listening, imitating, and practicing. Eventually your mouth and your brains gets the hang of it, and if you use it constantly it becomes natural.
But I agree, too many attempts sound like a Valley Girl accent. I am afraid all the reality shows may have skewed foreigner's perceptions of what most Americans sound like.

Hugh Laurie (House)does a very good job considering he is British (I think).

Seriously, the best I've heard are Hugh Laurie - House - and Jamie Bamber - Battlestar Galactica - Yes I know there's nothing particularly American about the series (but there is sometimes), and Jamie totally freaked me out the first time I heard him going full British, I had no idea. And Tracey Ullman, her valley girls were the absolute best.

to the British guy who says that they pronounce "Tomato" correctly in Britain and not in America because the English invented the language I would have to respond that tomatoes are native to the Americas and not to Britain. ;)

I have to add that Anthony LaPaglia does a pretty good American accent, considering he's an Aussie - and wouldn't even admit it until Aussies became the flavor du jour.
My accent is British/Australian and I wouldn't be caught dead trying to imitate an American, evern though I live in Central Illinois.

For those commenting on celebrities that have good American Accents for film: I would like to add Christian Bale to that list. One would never guess that he was Welsh from movies like American Psycho, Equilibrium or the Batman movies.

The First Girl is 100% American to begin with her British accent is really fake. If you don't agree listen to her's then listen to the British accent of the Asian guy below her. I think he's american accent is the best too. All are a great laugh though
