We may not be in a full-fledged depression just yet, but watching Great Depression Cooking with Great Grandma Clara sure makes me feel down. It's everything you could ever want from a cooking show that's centered around not being able to afford food or the energy required to cook it: You've got barebones staples like Pasta with Peas and Poorman's Meal; ruminations on the hardships of living through the Great Depression (we couldn't afford gas, the house was always cold); and a host you wish would smile just a little bit more. All-in-all though, Clara is a great sport and a terrific cook, and I'd be honored to have dinner at her house any day.
