Happy New Year, everyone! We're using New Year's Day to recover from either a holiday sugar overload, a NYE booze overload or both. So instead, we'll leave you to revisit some of the best of Urlesque in 2008. Thanks to each and every one of you for visiting and supporting us in our inaugural year. We're really looking forward to continuing to strip down the Internet -- bit by byte -- in 2009. Without further ado, we present Urlesque's Top 11 Most Popular Posts of 2008!

11. Umbrella Tree - Photos of an art installation by Sam Spencer took the web by storm. Thank goodness the tree was readily prepared.

10. The Most Addictive Animal Cams - This year, the Internet fell in love with the Shiba Inu Puppy Cam, streaming live on the internet 24/7. But you know what? The web is full of several other live streaming "awww"s, much to the dismay of your employer. Pandas, Bunnies and Miniature Horses, oh my!

9. The Deadliest Road in the World - The photos and details of the "most dangerous road" -- aka Yungas Road -- had Urlesque readers (and staffers!) shivering on our keyboards. Commenters shared stories of actually riding on Yungas and similar death-defying experiences.

8. The Best/Worst of SkyMall 2008 - Who doesn't love flipping through the SkyMall catalog on a long flight? Apparently, not our readers. We picked the best that SkyMall had to offer... and single-handedly convinced a few of you to order a Slanket for those cold, winter nights. Didn't we? Fess up!

7. Broke Man Tries Paying Bill With a Picture of a Spider - David Thorne of 27b/6 likes to have a little fun with unsuspecting folks via e-mail. In this epic exchange, Thorne tries to pay an outstanding account with a picture of a 7-legged spider. See also: Dear Neighbor, You Are Not Invited to My Party

6. Top 11 Weirdest Burgers: A Tribute - The 'net is obsessed with hamburgers. In order to quench the hunger of our readers, we found the weirdest burger-related items on the web. A sneaker burger?! Some of them were inedible, so be sure to check out the follow-up: Top 11 Craziest Burgers You Can Actually Eat!

5. Clouds That Look Like Things - Look there in the sky -- It's a bird! It's a plane! No, it's a FISH. While making this collection of pictures of 'clouds that look like things,' in cooperation with the Cloud Appreciation Society, we realized we should step away from our desks and look up at the sky ourselves sometime.

4. The Cutest Little Freak Ever - Pandadog - What is this bundle of fur? A dog? A panda? A mix? A dyed dog? Animal abuse!1!? In the comments of the post, the debate STILL rages surrounding what exactly this thing is. What we all can agree on, however, is that it's freaking adorable and we want one immediately.

3. Top 10 WTF Bodybuilding Routines - Forget the ballet, if you want some genuine entertainment, check out your local bodybuilding competition. They've got it all, from neon wheelchairs, the Bible, the robot dance, to American pride. Don't miss these lol-tastic routines.

2. 2008 Urlies - The Year in Internet - It was a big year on the web. Who can keep up with it all? So between watching puppy cams and cat videos, we decided to round up the very best of 2008 on the Internet. Check out the full list of winners in the 2008 Urlies or browse all of the nominees and categories including your favorites such as Christian the Lion, Rickrolling, a Lifetime Acheivement Award (to Cats), Favorite Vlogger, The WTF-tastic Montauk Monster, Our Favorite Site of the Year, and so much more.

1. 20 Bloggers We Want to See in Bikinis - In our first big (linkbait) listicle that blew up the interweb, Bloggers We Want to See in Bikinis was meant to be a celebration of awesome ladies on the web. Some feminists got mad for our objectivity, some of the ladies on the list were flattered, some appalled -- but at the end of the day we stood behind our timely hook of the summer and bikini season to highlight these broads because all the women have some admirable stuff going on (on the inside and out!) And after all, no one is immune to our prodding.
