In the heart of Southern California's "Old Town" Yucca Valley, right behind Dr. Smith's Companion Animal Clinic, there sits the multiple award winning Sandy Paws Pet Grooming Shop. Cindy the poodle is the model in all of these pictures.

Standard poodles (ANY poodles, for that matter) are generally accustomed to extensive grooming, particularly show dogs...but Cindy doesn't look particularly pleased in any of the pictures. That said, I am pretty impressed with the artwork and imaginative and creative results.

How is that animal cruelty? A lot of dogs enjoy getting a bathe and going to the pet salon. Which is basically what has been done.
If the dog really didn't enjoy it don't you think it would have bitten her enough times already to call it quits? YOU should be either shot or arrested for trying to control what other people do with their lives. I bet this pet gets fed the best food and has a better life then the pets you own.
And as for "but Cindy doesn't look particularly pleased in any of the pictures" shes a show dog. That iss the show dog face, what you want the photographer to ask the dog to say cheese?
God why can't you people just enjoy some things and not have to look into it so much?

thats so terrible! and people wonder why animals turn on them and bite the hell out of them. you know how dogs don't like to be normally groomed? (just nail or fur clipping or baths) well i think bathing and all that would be a joyride for this poor thing. that really is cruel, i can't believe people actually do this.

thats interesting emily. i know my dog and every other dog i know hates getting groomed, they are not people. they don't look at a bath as a day in the spa like we do. that poor dog doesn't know what's happening to it, she doesn't understand that people are saying that it's just a bath. it's wrong. and biting isn't the only way for dogs to show they are pissed. my dog does not like being groomed but he takes it because he is a good dog and he trusts us, people are just selfish and try to find ways to entertain people and make money off their "prize" they call a pet.

I see this as animal cruelty. My dogs are very well kept they don't enjoy being groomed but they don't bite because I groom them. They trust me so they won't bite. but all this with this poor poodle is animal cruelty. These are not things you do to the pet that you love so dearly, you wont make your own kids feel uncomfortable & you don't go around making yourself uncomfortable, why do it to your pets. this is just abuse.

The dog has a lot of hair to work with.
Cindy has an large amount of body fat, maybe her assistant can mold that fat into various shapes and forms.
Don't think she could look 'cute' at anytime, but she would get a good feeling of what she is doing to the dog.

You all need to get over this whole "OMG THAT'S MEAN! SHE SHOULD BE SHOT!"
That's bullshit. I know dogs that actually ENJOY being groomed and pampered. The dye doesn't hurt the dogs in any way. You all saying this is like saying a person should be shot for dying their hair or for wearing a particular set of clothes. It's not worng. It's not mean. If the dog didn't like it, I assure you it'd have acted out multiple times already and wouldn't do it anymore. Show dogs are much different than "house dogs". They are much more docile and enjoy the attention. They are breed that way.
Get over it. And get over yourselves.

I just want to say to the people who have negative things to say about the creative dog shows. You are ignorant. Get The facts, Just because your dogs dont enjoy getting their yearly baths, does not mean these dogs dont enjoy it. First of all I am a groomer and have been to the Burbank show every year so i would like to say i love your work especially last years Pirate "Awesome" i can only dream of being able to do what she does. so all you ignorant people out there stick to what you know and critisize your own actions, which im sure is alot worse than bathing and styling dogs......
