The late Jimi Hendrix Experience drummer, Mitch Mitchell, passed away this week in Portland, Oregon -- so in his memory, it seems only appropriate to celebrate a photo series inspired by an iconic Hendrix line from Purple Haze.

The photo series is titled Kissing the Ceiling. It was created by Canadian photographer, Fred Muram, and at first it seems like an odd, if not gimmicky, concept....but as you scroll through the photos, the balancing acts required to "kiss one's ceiling" become all the more creative.

Much like 126 Photos Worth Freezing, each subject looks only moments away from a potentially painful encounter with gravity.
