The theremin is one of the earliest electronic instruments. It sounds like a wailing ghost, but you don't need to actually touch it in order to make it sound, and that's pretty nifty as far as musical instruments go. It's easy to play, but tough to play well.

  • This first cat is, well, an actual cat. He or she provides a great example of an easily played but terrible sounding song on the theremin.
  • This second cat is a human female and she plays the theremin pretty well.
