Although his web-savvy campaign (now office) blogs, Flickrs, Facebooks, YouTubes, MySpaces and Tweets, President-elect Barack Obama has learned a valuable internet lesson since his election day win on Tuesday and quip about acquiring a new puppy for his daughters.
On the internet, animals will take precedent over any issue.
At Obama's first news conference today, the press were eager for details on what type of dog his family will be adopting. Graciously, he gave all the details about the future First Dog.
"...this is a major issue," he says. "I think it has generated more interest on our website than just about anything."

Yorkie's are supposed to good for people with allergies if they are looking for a small dog. If they are looking for a big dog, labradoodles are good. Anyway, getting a mixed dog that doesn't have long hair would probably be OK. My son has bad allergies and we have a Vizsla. He has short hair and we bathe him every 2 weeks. Kendra

Even though they have long hair, a Newfoundland is a great dog for kids.
they are extremely gentle and will watch over young ones and you'll know they are safe,ie."Nana" the nany newf in Peter Pan.
If first hand accounts are needed, talk to Ted Kennedy. His family has had this breed for years.
