Before YouTube, videos of people dancing all stupid and getting whacked in their swimsuit areas were rampant, believe it or not, on actual television. Sure, the video was often grainy, and indeed, it was accompanied by terrible comedy writing as narrated by the fey father from Full House. But America's Funniest Home Videos was -- and continues to be (wait, really?)-- a staple in novelty television.

Sadly, after submitting a video of themselves doing stuff with brooms won them $10,000 in 1996, Max Rosen and Dave Gilbert were exposed to the darker side of not-really-fame. Who could have guessed that filming a funny accident could result in family estrangement and coke binges?

America, America, is this you?
