I'd heard word of the elusive rainbow Flickr pandas, but had yet to encounter the great beasts -- until last night. Trolling the interwebz I uncovered the mythical creatures (basically a large blinky graphic with rotating photos). But why did they exist and what was purpose of this image?
Well, it turns out it's the calling card for a Flickr group called "Secrets of Explore," designed to help users understand how the Explore function works on the site and to share tricks on how to get your photos on Flickr's "Explore" page.
The "Explore" page functions as Flickr's front page and features random images from various Flickr accounts. This group has uncovered some pretty cool tricks to know whether you've been featured and how you might improve your chances for getting pics on the "Explore" page. Plus, ya know, they have rainbow-vomiting pandas!
