Laughing at the elderly is cruel, except when they act like petulant teenagers and get into fights with each other. In that case laughing's okay, because usually they just flail around for a while as they tire each other out, and nobody really gets hurt. That's been my stock pitch in our editorial meetings anyway, in what's evolved into a personal crusade to do a video collection of old people fighting. We put the idea on the shelf for months, biding our time, waiting for cultural mores to change, hoping we might not be cast out by "society" for admitting this is how we get our jollies. Unfortunately, that hasn't really happened yet -- but when we read this story about two old folks throwin' down over Obama v. McCain in an Ohio nursing home, we figured now was as good a time as any.
