A research librarian from the University of Utah squats in the sand all day, pointing Space Invader ray guns at rattlesnakes in the name of science.

Jeff Rice uses a lightweight parabolic microphone to capture the sounds of nearby rattlesnakes for the Western Soundscape Archive, a free encyclopedia of Western sounds!
