Since being appointed the official stationmaster of the unmanned Kishi train station in January 2007, a cat named Tortoiseshell Tama has attracted approximately 55,000 tourists, and generated an estimated $10.6 million, all for patrolling the station in a cat-sized conductor's hat. In my humble opinion, this is exactly the kind of job creation we need in the US during these troubling economic times. There's no better way to fix a mortgage crisis than with a couple of cats in business suits.
