For the record, I'm holding back tears as I write this.

Rupert was born three months premature after his soon-to-be Mum (he's a Brit) was hit and killed by a car. Things didn't look good for Rupert at first. He was a scant six inches tall and weighed hardly a pound. By the time he arrived at Tiggywinkles Wildlife Hospital (!!!) in Buckinghamshire, he had even stopped breathing.



Thankfully the Tiggywinks quickly got his lungs up and running again. Rupe was then immediately placed in an incubator and hooked up to a tiny feeding tube.



Despite obvious setbacks, things are looking good for Rupert. At the tender age of five days, he opened his eyes for the first time, and the deer experts at Tiggywinkles are optimistic about his chances of living a happy, healthy life as a Muntjac deer. Head Tiggly Lee Stocker had this to say:
