
Try to explain to my grandmother what I do for a living, and she'll think you're choking. "Blogging?" she'll repeat, hoping she misheard you say "pediatrics" with a frog in your throat.
But who can blame her? She is merely one fish in a bigass sea of fish...er, people, that is, who don't necessarily "get the Internet." In fact, a recent study shows that 30% of Americans and 58% of adults worldwide don't know what social networking is. Perhaps the same people still meet others through handshakes or what used to be called "talking," but the concept of "friending" someone on MySpace or Facebook or Bebo or LinkedIn simply does not register with them.
But while the generation gap between voracious Facebook fiends and their elders is significantly vast, there have got to be some old people who, like us, take pleasure in Rick Rolling a buddy or posting "Spaghetti Cat" on somebody's FunWall.
How I wish these were real (and not results of my poor Photoshopping skills combined with my adoration for the divorce between old people and technology):
