You know when dogs look their cutest? After they've done a big pile of no-no on the carpet. You track them down, confront them, start scolding your heart out and what do they do? They do the guilty face. Nothing's cuter than a guilty dog. See for yourself:

My dog sneezes uncontrollably when we scold her for stealing Q-Tips from the bathroom garbage...

A ney shhtick for Letterman: instead of Stipid Pet Tricke, Stupid (Well, Maybe, Dumb) Pet Owners. Seriously, though...do you suppose these owners think their pets understand what they are being told. The little dog obviously thought it was about to be hit. The bigger dog seemed to understand that its owner was upset, hence the on-the-back submissive pose. Then the owner says "Naughty, naughty dog" then pets the animal. What a grand mixed message: now the pooch thinks that Naughty, naughty dog is high praise--did a good thing.
This kind of stuff must drive professional dog trainers nuts. Owners should be licensed before they can own a dog--have to pass a course on dog obedience training.

these poor dogs dont know better. An owner shouldn't confuse them and then blame things on the dog when its really the owners fault.

I feel that not only the people who filmed these small tid bits of animal cruelty but also the people who advertise them should all be ashamed! If you have nothing better to do then to abuse your animals (and in front of your children to ensure they inherit the same senseless trait) then I feel very sorry for you all.

i know my dog has done a nono when he runs and hides under the bed. he leaves his butt sticking out. i say, "get out, get out from under there and show me your nono, mr. naughty butt." he never listens.

this is almost animal abuse. if these freaks were treating their illbegotten offspring like this, they'd be arrested. people like this should not get pets and should not have children.

just like with kids.....people are giving mixed messages....creates inner chaos

This is just sick animal cruelty. Nuts are going to escalate this to online beatings. It must be stopped NOW. It's revolting.
by:// humanbeing - Aug 21st 2008
speaking of ridiculous escalation ...

This is disgustingly ridiculous and harmful. Seeing an animal cowar down in front of you is, "cute"? Putting your, supposedly beloved pet into a position of submission by basically, embarassment, is fun?? Boy, I apparently missed the bullentin of this new fad in, "Ignoramus' R Us". Just crazy. Seriously, ya'll need to get a life. And give your dog away to someone who actually gives a crap about their well being.
Does anyone realize the actual harm this creates in their dogs? You're instilling an unnecessary fear and worry. (Yes, dogs can be quite humanlike and do worry; hence the "guilt face") Fears that have deeper negative reactions such as leading to a nervous, panicked behavior and which can manifest itself into physical attacks.
Not to mention their confusion of the reprimand's cause. "What? How come you're scolding me for sitting here and licking my paws??" This is a super awesome way to toss all those years of obdience training out the window.
Cute? Pffffft. My tushie. Having your dog running amok in a circle so happy to be with you, playing around? Now THAT'S cute.

ONLY AN ASS HOLE WOULD SCOLD ANY ANIMAL AND EVEN WORSE FILM IT. IT'S WORSE THAN ANY ABUSE A HUMAN COULD PUSH ON AN INNOCENT ANIMAL.

u ppl needa chill out....i mean i am totally against animal curetly, but its not like they are hitting their dogs or sumthing, u cant be so damn easy about everything, ur dog is like ur child. u hafta be strict wit him or her and still love them. when my dog does something bad he gets sad and acts the same way when i scold him. i'm not hurting him in anyway, and the dogs reacting like that is just showing that they understand they have done something bad...

The owners should learn how to train dogs. I agree this is really a form of being cruel. They are pets and need commands, They are not people which is why jake's dog does not respond.
by:// kim - Aug 21st 2008
this is really sick. how dare owners prolong their dog's guilt to make a video because it's "cute". should we make video's of our children being scolded to post on the internet. WEB SITES SHOULD NOT BE SUPPORTING THIS TYPE OF CONTENT.
by:// sara - Aug 22nd 2008
Greg is absolutely right ... idiot people should have to take an IQ test before getting a dog...& only be allowed to have the dog if thier IQ is higher than the dogs'!! Unless you get to the dog IMMEDIATELY after he messes up & repremand it, IT HAS NO IDEA what you're talking about... they don't put 'action A' together with 'result B' if there's any time lag!!!

Taping this for the sake of entertaiment is ridiculous BUT just to set people straight:
Dogs NEED discipline. They are pack animals and therefore have a strict social hierarchy. If the leader(you) doesn't assert their dominance when the dog is out of line, that system breaks down and its chaos for the dog. Bad behavior ensues.
Dogs have short attentions spans but GREAT memories. After you show them the mess on the floor and punish them, they will remember that and make the connection next time it happens. My dog will hide as soon as I walk through the door when he's done something wrong. Otherwise he's just happy as a clam to see me.
As long as you're doing it for a reason, standing over a dog is NOT cruelty. That's exactly what the pack leaders do in the wild. In fact, it tends to be more effective than spanking them. The dogs that get nervous and lash out tend to be ones that have been shown dominance for no reason, surprised while in a state of rest continuously, or are not getting close to the amout of exercise they need each day.
For the crazy people: Dogs are not human, they are wild animals and therefore live by instinct. They do not make the distinction between innocent baby bunnies and adult rabbits. They see food. Nature is NOT kind and when you bring it into your home you have to be prepared to keep it's balance.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not all about martial law every second of the day. If a dog is misbehaving repeatedly it's usually a sign that something is wrong. Please balance out discipline with love and attention and with that will come better understanding between you and your dog.

I totally agree with responders when they say this is a form of animal abuse. Look at those faces when someone is scolding them! Look at these poor animals' body language! It's disgusting and I hope the idiots that filmed their videos gave their animals a big hug and kiss when the camera stopped rolling. Please don't do this again because YOUR biggest viewer is NOT me and thousands of other people...it's GOD and He doesn't accept lame excuses for idiocy and cruelty.
by:// Anne - Aug 22nd 2008
You should need a License to own a pet. Complete Cruelty. It's lack of attention and excercise that causes a dog to do that.
I have a purebred Labrador Retriever (the biggest chewer of all breeds), but if trained properly and given enough exercise it does not eat your whole house.
Take this crap off the internet.
