We've become obsessed with getting Bill Nye some much-deserved famo. It's because we think of the children, you know?
Fortunately there's NyeTunes, a YouTuber devoted to the two-minute, egghead-meets-Yankovic music videos that concluded each episode of Nye's PBS show (100 videos uploaded so far!). You true Nye kids know you used to sing along. Bill sure could rock.
One part childhood nostalgia, one part 90s music nostalgia, and a garnish of pure absurdism will give you a YouTube buzz every time. Here are our top 20 Bill Nye the Science Guy music videos. If we missed your fave, out-nerd us in the comments!
- 20. "Atoms In My Life" by Third Nye Blind (ha! - watch those band names, they get better) offers a short-but-sweet parody to start. Nye's better work spoofs a song's actual video, but for some reason this looks nothing like the original.
- 19. "Earthquake Rumble" by the wicked Mister Richter is next. Inspired by Wu-Tang Clan, I guess? Like it matters -- the awesome old skool hip-hop has just begun (and "Talkin' Bout Birds" by L.L. Bloo J. gets honorable mention).
- 18. "Blood Stream" parodies "Love Shack" by the B-52's, except they're in a gym! And the dude doesn't exactly have that Fred Schneider stage presence.
