It's not uncommon for a college to require prospective students to make video essays for admission, especially when the college is a film school. It's also not uncommon for a teenager with a video camera or cell phone to upload a steady stream of banal-a** "this is my life" proto-vlog footage to their YouTube accounts, especially when the teens are budding filmmakers. So it's only natural for those teen filmmakers to apply to those not uncommon film schools and post their admissions essays on YouTube.
