Remember Bill Nye the Science Guy from 7th grade science class? You know, the bow-tie wearing nerdy guy who tried unsuccessfully to make learning fun? Well, in an attempt to keep the bright lights shining on his Nye brand, which includes the new-ish show "The Eyes of Nye," Bill's launched an all-out media assault with the strength of a bajillion electrons orbiting a nucleus.
Within the past week or so, somebody named Fwword22madre has been uploading every single episode of Nye's old-school show onto YouTube. There's also a petition campaign to get Disney to release his shows on DVD that's currently collected 1205 signatures. And the kicker: his recent appearance on Larry King Live, where he got into an entertainingly heated debate with some UFO believers that ended with another scientist asking Nye, "Are you gonna do this with baking soda and vinegar, Bill?"
Ouch... the fun starts at 5:45.
We'd be inclined to call all of this a well coordinated, multi-media hype blitz, but out of respect to Mr. Nye, let's remember that correlation does not equal causality. Or something. Bizarre coincidence it is! For now...
