Ladies and gentlemen ... in previous Today's Cries we may have been, well, exaggerating the crying part. Except the kid singing one which still makes me blubber. But today's entry really did make Kelly cry. Like heaving sobs of continuous "ooooomg-you-guys" for twenty minutes which resulted in a hunt for more tissues.
Well, here we go. You've probably seen the "lion meets previous caretakers from years ago and hugs them" video -- but have you seen it with Whitney Houston belting "And I-eeee-yiiiii Will Always Love You ..." at the very moment the three embrace? Buy stock in Kleenex, people. This makes Sofie's Choice seem like an episode of Super Nanny. (Ed note: Okay, I even cried again when editing this post. -Kelly )

NBC TODAY and Meredith Viera's interview with the two men who raised Christain was great. It was nice to know where they live and their involvement in wildlife conservation.
No one mentioned that Christian, a male lion living in the wild, had a life expectancy of 10-15 yrs and by 1984, probably was no longer living.
It is one of the greatest video's I've seen on YouTube. Only the English singing group Libera is better.

I'm glad that film was available. It was so obvious and amazing how the lion recognized and loved-up on the previous friend. Great info. with perfect illustration. Thanks.

OH MY GOD, I cant stop crying, I cant believe this, I have always wondered if your animals ever remember you I cant believe that I just saw this, I thought that the lion was going to charge, it looked like that at first, then I still wasnt sure, and then the rubbing on the face with his, oh my god, Im speachless. What a wonderful thing to see and if your lucky enough to experience, I cant even imagine the feeling that those two men had at that time. God Bless anyone that cared and treated an animal obviously wonderfully to have them remember you with such love. How wonderful, I feel almost special to have seen this, does that sound funny or weird.. I love stuff like this.
Wonderful!!!!!!!!!!!

OMG this is without a doubt the most touching thing I have ever seen in my whole life! if this kind of love and friendship, understanding and respect can exist between man and beast (especially a beast that finds us tasty), then why can't it exist between all of mankind? Maybe lions are just better "people" then we are?

When treat an animal with love and respect the bond you form lasts a lifetime. I raised a beautifull rotweiler from 6 weeks till she died at age 12. She was more like a family member then a pet. She had 3 litters of pups and i kept a daughter out of each litter. She raised her daughters and even took care of her grand babies .She watched them being born and was nervous as any mom as each daughter had her first liter. Running to the newborn babies and kissing them and looking over each one, and if they cried she was right there making sure they were okay. They all interacted as a family, It was a joy to share our life with them. She was so proud of her family and showed us all what pure love is all about. Never my dogs but forever my girls...........
Rest easy my brown eyed girl...............

So beautiful. I watch this over and over and it gladdens my heart every time. I'd like to know what happened to the guys AND the lion afterward. Would like to think they lived happily ever after.

I can watch this over and over again and still get weepy. Animals touch us in a very special way and it's important to treat them well. They are gifts to the universe.

I LOVE this video, it makes me cry, every time I watch it!! As for those of you that think it is made up or BS, let me tell you a little story. My family was blessed to raise a fawn. She came into our home as a sickly 3 week old, Mother was found hit by a car. The laws, where we live, made it very difficult, if we were caught we faced a $1,000 fine and possible 3yr imprisonment. We raised her, in our 1600sq ft home on 21/2 acres. She slept with our children and our 132lb chocolate lab. At 3 months old she was ready for release. We found a home for her where she had safety and 200 acres. It has been 2yrs, we visit her every yr on her B-Day and she still remembers us, yes she lives in the wild but we still live in her heart, as she does ours. She comes to us on our visits rubs necks, kisses and tries to get in the car. It is an amazing experience that my 3 children and I will always have!
