The headline gods are feeling generous these days -- how else to explain the perfect synergy of the recent JerrySeinfeld.com dispute and Jerry's famous scene from "The Contest"? Apparently the owner of Seinfeld's namesake URL for the past decade, domain hoarder Anything.com (one of the many that have the web in a choke hold), was finally forced to surrender it for free under a Uniform Domain-Name Dispute-Resolution Policy (UDRP for those in the know). According to Wikipedia:

In a UDRP proceeding, the panel will consider factors such as, whether the defendant registrant's domain name is identical or confusingly similar to a trademark in which the complainant has rights; whether the defendant has no rights or legitimate interests in a name; and whether the defendant registered and is using the name in bad faith.
The advertising spam linkdump that Anything.com set up as an "unofficial fan site" at JerrySeinfeld.com (see more of their fine work at Kitchen.com and Marketing.com, but don't click any links!) didn't leave them with much wiggle room, but that didn't stop the buggers from allegedly trying to finagle a photo op with Seinfeld out of the deal. Someone really needs to send a children's karate class after these people.
