No real estate market is more ruthless than the one for web domains. Between the domain "front running" of Network Solutions and ridiculous online empires of guys like this, it can seem impossible to find a halfway-decent .com address that isn't being cybersquatted. We got pretty lucky with ol' urlesque.com (lucky as in sat in front of GoDaddy for days like it was a slot machine), but it made us even more worried that the days of www.clownpenis.fart could soon be upon us (and yes, we plan to pounce on any opportunity, ever, to link to that video).
Leave it to the Japanese to make us feel silly - two times over. According to Mac software developer Cabel Maxfield Sasser, URLs are dying over there. Companies avoid settling for clunky, forgettable domains by including search boxes with recommended search terms in their ads. Cabel extrapolates that the search box will supplant the address bar in browsers for all kinds of situations very soon.

But not in the good old territorial West, right? I mean, here we were, tickled pink over our URL with a cool play on 'url.' Good thing the Japanese are far from our target market. Nobody there cares about fun, random internet stuff! Oh wait...
